Maybe autonomy is good for Land Rover. That way it can drive itself to the shop when it senses it’s going to break.

Everyone I know? Or at least everyone I work with. We have discussions like three times a week about how all can’t wait for cars to drive themselves / teleportation.

I can’t wait for the day I can wake up in the dead of night, load the skis into the car and sleep while it dr ives to whistler and back.

People like me who have mindless commutes in rush hour traffic every morning and every evening, or who travel long distances down dull interstates where no real “engagement” can happen. I’d love to be able to enter my office or home as a destination in the mornings/evenings and let the car do all the work. There’s nothing fun, exciting, or engaging about sitting in rush hour traffic on I495 every day.
Likewise I drive down to Florida from NoVA at least twice a year, that trip down I95 and across I10 is mindless and numb, I’d be very happy if the car could safely and reliably
do that for me.

I am! Driving can be fun, but for most people it’s just a way to get from one place to another, so why not make it easier for them. Just as importantly, we have the potential to make it a ton safer than it is, so why not.

A prototype self-driving Range Rover Sport handled the complex Coventry Ring Road, successfully changing lanes , merging with traffic and exiting junctions at the speed limit of 40mph.
I’m not familiar with this road, but it sounds like a big accomplishment. Still, I’ll be impressed af ter it successfully repeats this test several times. Because w ho knows, maybe they just happened to win the traffic lottery on this one run...

I’ll admit, I thought that was a Police Spec Ford Explorer...
